Eva Bons - An overview of RespiCast and the choice of forecasting targets

Published

May 6, 2026

On Wednesday May 6th, Eva Bons will give an overview of RespiCast, the ECDC’s forecasting hub for respiratory diseases.

RespiCast is the ECDC’s forecasting hub for respiratory diseases, providing weekly short-term forecasts of Influenza-Like-Illness (ILI) and Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) through a collaborative, multi-model framework. The hub brings together an international community of modelling teams to generate forecasts that support situational awareness and public health decision-making across Europe. This presentation will provide an overview of RespiCast, with a particular focus on the choice of forecasting targets, highlighting both technical challenges and considerations for public-health relevance.

A recording of this talk will be posted to our YouTube channel and asynchronous discussion will be possible on our community site. You can also ask questions ahead of time and asynchronously there.
